Planning Your Journey

Your adventure begins with a scenic 9-hour jeep drive from Kathmandu to the starting point at Jagat. To embark on this trek, travelers must acquire government-mandated permits and be accompanied by a government-licensed guide.

• The Nubri & Tsum Valley Routes: The initial days of the trek trace the path of the Budhi Gandaki River valley. From here, you can choose to venture into either the culturally rich Tsum Valley or the high-altitude landscapes of the Nubri Valley.
• Trek Duration: If you choose to explore the hidden gem of Tsum Valley, you can spend 6 to 8 blissful days trekking through its serene landscapes. However, if you opt solely for the classic Manaslu Circuit, you should plan for a 10 to 16-day itinerary.

The Adventure of a Lifetime

As you walk closer to the Tibetan border, the landscape transforms drastically. The absolute highlight and most thrilling segment of this trek is crossing the snow-covered Larke La Pass, nestled dramatically between Mount Larke and Mount Cho.
The Descent: After conquering the pass, the trail descends back toward the lush lowlands. You will pass through the enchanting and picturesque village of Bhimthang before merging into the famous Marshyangdi Valley, eventually concluding your trek at Besisahar.

History at a Glance

• 1950: The legendary British mountaineer and explorer Bill Tilman became the first foreigner to explore this region.
• May 1956: Japanese climber Toshio Imanishi, alongside Nepalese Sherpa Gyalzen Norbu, made history by completing the first successful ascent of Mt. Manaslu.
• 1991: The Manaslu Circuit was officially opened for commercial trekking. In its initial years, the government strictly limited access to just 400 trekkers per year.

The Pinnacle: Larke La Pass

The highest point of this trek is the Larke La Pass, standing proudly at an altitude of 5,106 meters. Upon reaching the summit, you will be greeted by traditional stone cairns and vibrant Buddhist prayer flags fluttering fiercely in the wind.

The pass offers a front-row seat to the staggering peaks of the Manaslu and Annapurna ranges. As you walk about 15 minutes past the pass, an even grander amphitheater of mountains unfolds before you. Peaks like Annapurna II, Kang Guru, Gyaji Kang, Himlung, and Cho rise together like a colossal wall of ice and rock.
